Filipino Pork Sisig Air Fryer Recipe

Filipino Pork Sisig Air Fryer Recipe

Ingredients
500g pork belly – sliced about half-inch thick
3 pieces chicken liver
1 big red onion
3-4 kalamansi or 1 lemon
1-2 chili peppers
1 tablespoon soy sauce
Salt and pepper, to taste
1-2 tbsp butter
Preparation
Season the pork belly slices with salt and pepper. Place them in the air fryer basket in a single layer (you might need to do this in batches depending on the size of your air fryer). Air-fry the pork belly for about 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the pork is crispy and golden brown. Let it rest for a few minutes, then chop into small bite-sized pieces.
Season the chicken liver with salt and pepper. Air-fry the chicken liver at 350°F (175°C) or pan fry for about 8-10 minutes until cooked through. Once done, mash the liver and set aside.
In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped pork belly, mashed chicken liver, soy sauce, kalamansi or lemon juice and ground black pepper. Stir everything together until well-mixed.
In a small pan, melt 1 tbsp butter and sauté half of the onions until fragrant. Cook until the onions are soft. Add the pork mixture, the rest of the onions and chilli peppers. Adjust the taste with salt and pepper. Crack an egg and stir.
Transfer the sisig to a serving dish. You can also serve it on a sizzling plate if available for an authentic touch.
